2014 - Leaping into Life

Welcome to the Thomson Adventures blog where you can follow our family of seven as we sell nearly everything we own and take off around Australia with two 4WDs and a camper trailer!

I'm Donna (39) and my husband is Jason (40). We have 5 children - an 18 year old son and four daughters, ages 16, 9, 7 and 3. We've spent our lives in south-east Queensland. We're already a home schooling family so this aspect of our lives should flow smoothly into our new nomadic lifestyle (except having to let go of so many wonderful resources!). The biggest hurdle so far is coping with all our stuff and the process of getting rid of it.

We're now around 12 months into making our new lifestyle happen and perhaps it could have happened much quicker if we could stay motivated to wade through our 'old' stuff constantly, but it will happen when it happens, and our inner spiritual journey is just as important as the outer physical one.

There are so many reasons why we made the choice to sell up and travel and we'll expand on those in future posts. However the core of it is about removing limitations and realising we are truly free to live happy and fulfilling lives - we don't have to own a home and 'stuff' to be happy. In fact, that lifestyle has become a prison to us, and we're ready to break out! We don't have to work full-time jobs just to get by. We don't have to do what most people are doing.

We're focusing on allowing and opening up to exciting new experiences ....NOW!
